How to Configure Feedback on Documents
Who is this article for? Please Review Administrators configuring feedback options.
Review Owners have permissions enable feedback settings.
The following article will go through the configuration settings for setting up feedback on Please Review documents. However, this article won't show you how to upload documents, for more information on this, see Further Reading.
Configuring Feedback on Documents
If enabled by system configuration settings, feedback documents can be included in a review. Participants are then able to provide ‘high-level' feedback on the document instead of proposed changes or comments. Feedback is typically provided by ratings or the recording of points against a set of questions.
The sample feedback
The document supplied with the Please Review system is designed to demonstrate the various standard options for feedback documents. The text in the sample feedback document can be modified, as necessary.
When creating new feedback documents, or modifying the text in the sample feedback document, always ensure the text uses a ‘feedback document style’.
These specific Word style names are used to identify rating item types and questions:
To set up a review with a feedback document, the Review Owner must upload a feedback document to the review and set the document type to ‘Feedback’, see How to Upload Documents for more information.
Here are a few important things to remember when configuring feedback:
- The text in the document must use the specific ‘Feedback Document’ style.
- Participants will only be able to select the paragraphs where the style name is known to the configuration file. These will be identified by the mouse icon when hovering over the feedback question.
- Feedback documents are presented in the classic interface.
Ratings
If a rating table is used in the document, the Review Owner and any Author can ‘Accept’ or ‘Ignore’ the rating in the comment window.
Once a rating has been ‘Accepted’ there will be no further actions available unless the acceptance is re-opened. If a selection has been ‘Ignored’ the option to ‘undo ignores’ will be available until the rating is ‘Accepted’.
Note that if several people have selected the same rating, it doesn't matter which one is accepted as it is the rating that is accepted.
Bulleted Lists
If a bulleted list is used in the document the options available will depend on the configuration. It is possible to ‘allow’ or ‘disallow’ participants to reply to bullet points made by others. It is also possible to allow participants to ‘Like’ or ‘Dislike’ another participant’s bullet point:
