1. Uploading a Document with Tracked Changes
When uploading Word documents with existing comments, tracked changes, and tracked moves, Please Review will present them as Please Review comments and proposed changes in the review interface.
In the screenshot below, underneath 'participants' Please Review will track the number of imported comments and tracked changes under 'Imported Comment':
The behavior is the same as comments and changes made by other review participants and are recorded in the reconciliation report.
Note: If the ability to import Word comments and changes is disabled at a system configuration level, any Microsoft Word comments and tracked changes will be visible in the document but will not be included as Please Review comments and proposed changes.
If a paragraph is edited which contains Microsoft Word comments or tracked changes in Please Review, they will be presented as accepted changes. The comment markers will not be displayed, but the indicator will remain in place and further details can be viewed in the paragraph history window, under ‘Original Text’.
2. Uploading a Document with Citations
In a standard review of a Microsoft Word document containing citations, the citations and any associated bibliography will be displayed, and links may be followed, etc.
Citations, and their associated bibliography will display in grey shading to identify the content as a field and Reviewers can add comments and make proposed changes to the paragraph in the usual way.
Note: You cannot edit citation text or bibliography text in Please Review.
- Comments can be added to citations and bibliographies, and citations and bibliographies can be formatted or deleted in Please Review as a proposed change.
- Paragraphs in the Word document which have accepted, or open proposed changes will retain any citations and references (stored in the Word document as fields).
- There are certain limitations with bibliographies when a review contains zones.
3. Uploading a PDF with Existing Annotations
When uploading PDF documents with existing annotations, the annotations will be visible in the document, however they will not be included as Please Review comments and proposed changes.
Note: If the PDF annotations need to be included in the review as Please Review comments and proposed changes, the Author/Owner should first upload the original PDF without annotations, then import the annotations after starting the review.
