1. Updates in Please Review 8.7.0

Embedded review integration

Please Review can now be embedded in Ideagen applications, enabling users to create, manage, review, and close reviews without leaving the host app. Authentication is automatic, eliminating separate logins.

Key benefits:

• Manage reviews within integrated apps.
• Review and mark up documents without switching tools.
• Complete review closeout via a dedicated interface.
• Real-time sync with notifications for changes.
• New REST APIs support Hub Token authentication and review lifecycle.

New review closeout experience

Review owners get a redesigned closeout page for end-of-review tasks, featuring:

• Review Details tab with info and open comment alerts.
• Review Documents tab listing all documents.
• Close, complete, or re-open reviews from the page.
• One-click reconciliation email sending.
• Download individual files or ZIP packages.
• Comment filtering for downloads.

Improved support for Word field codes with tracked changes

Please Review now properly handles Word documents with tracked changes in field codes, preventing corruption on download.

Users can:

• Download affected documents without issues.
• Open files in Word error-free.
• Re-upload edited documents.
• Use all download modes correctly, including:
  • Open as Tracked
  • Accepted as Tracked
  • Comment Only

This fixes document corruption issues reported by customers.

Enhanced feedback reporting

Feedback documents now store original question text with ratings and responses.

Benefits:

• Improved reporting and analytics.
• Better score aggregation across reviews.
• Preserves full Q&A context for external reporting.
• Applies only to Feedback documents; no impact on existing workflows.

Localisation improvements

Fixed localisation issues for French, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish users.

Dates now display correctly on:

• Review creation screens.
• Review control panels.
• Review detail editing screens.

"Invalid Date" errors due to language formatting are resolved.

2. Downloading Please Review 8.7.0

Please Review 8.7.0 is available to all Please Review customers and can be downloaded from the Please Review 8.7.0 download centre.

For Ideagen hosted customers, please contact your dedicated account manager to schedule an upgrade with one of our implementation consultants at no extra cost.

Important: You should request a new license for the version you are currently on. Please contact your account manager to request the appropriate license file.

3. Performing the update

The steps to perform the upgrade are outlined at Performing a Please Review 8 Upgrade.

The steps will vary based on the version of Please Review you are using and what configurations you have implemented. The high-level steps to upgrade are:

1. Configure Microsoft .NET Framework.
2. Backup the Database and Configs.
3. Remove the Old Please Review.
4. Update Node.js to v24.15.0.
5. Install Please Review 8.7.0.
6. Merge Config Settings.
7. Upgrade the Please Review Database.
