1. Updates in Please Review 8.6.0
Please Review 8.6.0 brings key enhancements, including multi-workgroup support for Veeva-centric integration, smarter user management through Ideagen Hub, an upgrade to the iText9 PDF processing library, and a Node.js runtime upgrade.
Support Multi Workgroup in Veeva-centric Integration
Please Review now supports multiple workgroups within a single Veeva-centric integration instance, giving organisations greater flexibility when managing reviews across different Vault groups.
- A new workgroup selection screen guides review owners to the correct context before creating a review. Single-workgroup users skip this step automatically.
- Participant lists are filtered by workgroup, with cross-workgroup support available for locked workgroups.
- A new configuration option gives administrators granular control over Vault participant management.
- The workgroup name is now visible across the inbox, control panel, transfer ownership, closeout, and redaction screens.
- New filter and sort options make it easy to locate and organise reviews across workgroups.
Product Instance Assignment and user deprovisioning (Hub)
Administrators now have precise control over which Please Review instances each user can access, as part of Ideagen's continued adoption of Hub capabilities.
- Users can be assigned to specific Please Review product instances directly from Ideagen Hub, rather than being automatically provisioned to every instance under the organisation.
- When a user is unassigned from a product instance in Hub, their access is automatically revoked in the corresponding Please Review environment — eliminating the need for manual cleanup.
- The user synchronisation process now only triggers sync calls when actual changes are detected, improving system responsiveness and reducing unnecessary processing.
Support Veeva Vault API 26R1
Please Review has been updated to support Veeva Vault API version 26R1, ensuring continued compatibility and stable operation of the Veeva integration against the latest Vault platform version.
Replace iTextSharp with iText9
Please Review has migrated from iTextSharp to iText9, ensuring the platform remains on a fully supported PDF processing library for long-term stability and security.
- iTextSharp had reached end-of-life. iText9 is the current actively maintained release.
- All existing PDF-related functionality — including document rendering, manipulation, and generation — continues to operate as expected.
- A new administrative setting, Enable processing of Owner Password-protected PDFs, has been introduced under Review - advanced settings. By default, this is set to Deny, blocking the upload, download, and annotation import of owner password-protected PDFs. Administrators can change this to Permit where required.
- PDFs protected with a user password are now blocked at the point of upload. Users will need to remove user password protection before uploading.
Upgrade Node.js to v24.15.0
Please Review has been upgraded to run on Node.js v24.15.0, keeping the platform on a secure and actively supported runtime.
- Addresses known vulnerabilities present in older runtime versions.
- Ensures continued compatibility with evolving ecosystem dependencies.
2. Fixes
We've improved security, stability, and usability in Please Review 8.6.0, addressing a number of issues across key areas.
Security updates:
- Updated core security dependencies to their latest supported versions, resolving known vulnerabilities and ensuring compliance with current security standards.
- Resolved an issue where downloading reviews for offline use could fail with a timeout error. Offline downloads now complete reliably.
Hub integration:
- User provisioning for organisations using Hub integration is now managed exclusively through the Ideagen Hub admin console. The User Administration screen has been updated to direct administrators to Hub for adding new users.
- Authentication sources managed by Hub can no longer be accidentally edited within Please Review, preventing configuration mismatches.
- Fixed an issue where users were not properly redirected to the login screen after logging out of Hub or when their session expired.
Veeva integration:
- Fixed an issue where opening Please Review from the Veeva Vault inbox could prompt an unexpected login screen. Users are now automatically authenticated when launching Please Review from within Vault.
User interface and experience:
- The Please Review version number is now displayed in the new UI — in the Help & Support sidebar and at the bottom of the navigation bar.
- The Send Reminder button now requires at least one participant to be selected before sending, preventing empty reminder submissions.
- After a Please Review upgrade, the application now automatically loads the latest version without requiring a manual browser refresh.
