How to Configure External Systems Integration

External systems integration in Please Review involves using APIs (Application Programming Interfaces) to connect the Please Review platform with other software or tools. This enables seamless data exchange and collaboration between Please Review and external systems, enhancing workflow efficiency and information sharing.
External System Integrations
This section deals with using Please Review in conjunction with a third-party system that provides user and group information.
- These system connectors provide a common interface between Please Review and the third-party system.
Important: Any external system integration articles refer to the systems that Please Review is integrated with – any exceptions specific to individual system connectors will be noted as required.
- Each system connector will display different icons next to external groups given access to Please Review. Running the mouse pointer over the icons displays more information.
Changing How Users Are Authenticated
Each user has a unique email address in the system. This does not normally cause issues in the day-to-day running of Please Review, it can be a problem if two users share an email account.
- Please Review assumes that if a user from a third party (external) system has the same email address as another user then they are the same user. This means that although the user logins name and password may be different, there will only be one account so a user logging into Please Review using either login details will see the same inbox.
- If a user has been added to Please Review with an email address of 'user@example.com' and then a user with the same email address is ‘pulled’ from Active Directory, then will be the same, no matter which login source they use.
- Users will not be able to perform actions in a third party system if they have not logged into that system e.g. if the user is logged in to Please Review through Active Directory, and they are also known as a Documentum user, then they will not be able to use any Documentum functionality in Please Review such as document check-in and check-out unless they log out and back in via Documentum.
Installation
To add external users to the system Please Review must be configured to communicate with the external system. It is possible for more than one external system to be configured. Please see the Please Review Installation articles for more information.
