Troubleshooting installing the TaraService
Who is this article for?
Administrators responsible for managing Please Review encountering challenges during the installation.

This article documents troubleshooting steps for installation of TaraService.
1. Could not load file or assembly 'file ... TaraService.exe'
If you are getting an error like this:
Exception occurred while initializing the installation: System.IO.FileLoadException: Could not load file or assembly 'file:///D:\PleaseReview\Runtime\bin\TaraService.exe' or one of its dependencies. Operation is not supported. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80131515).
This suggests the file is blocked. Depending on your environment, Windows may block downloaded files to protect users. Note that unblocking just the TaraService.exe file may not be enough, as it relies on other files in the same folder.
To resolve this:
- Right-click the original ZIP file containing the server files.
- Select Properties and check for an unblock option.
- Once unblocked, extract the files. They should all be unblocked automatically.
If you’ve configured files, some may be replaced. However, most configurable files use a .template extension in the ZIP. Files you renamed during installation (without the .template extension) should remain unaffected.
2. Installation failed due to xml parsing error
If you are getting an error that begins like this, it indicates an invalid XML file.
A full example error might look like this:
Unable to create an instance of the Pleasetech.Tara.TaraService.ProjectInstaller installer type. System.Reflection.TargetInvocationException: Exception has been thrown by the target of an invocation. The inner exception System.Xml.XmlException was thrown with the following error message: An error occurred while parsing EntityName. Line 4, position 84.. An exception occurred during the Install phase. System.InvalidOperationException: Unable to create an instance of the
