Who is this article for?Review owners who want to learn how to restore deleted documents or reviews.
No elevated access is required.
Review owners may delete a document on a review or a review and then may wonder if it can be restored.
1. Document
If a document is deleted from a review, it is completed purged from the file system and any record of it is removed from the database. It is not possible to restore this.
2. Review
If a review is deleted, provided the recycle bin is enabled and the recycle purge time has not been met, this can be restored by the review owner going to the recycle bin and selectin the restore option.
If the review has been deleted and the recycle bin is not enabled or it has been in the recycle bin but has since been purged, then the it will have been completed purged from the file system and any record of it removed from the database. It is not possible to restore this.
3. Restoring from backups
In both cases mentioned above, if you have backups of the document files and the database from a previous date and time, you might be able to restore them to another location to regain access to the deleted content.
Important: Be cautious not to overwrite your existing data, as it will have changed since that time. We recommend setting up a different PR server instance and database for this purpose.
If your site is hosted on-premises and you need to clone the server environment, refer to the instructions for cloning an environment in here. Keep in mind that you’ll need a license for the second environment. If you don’t have one, reach out to your account manager.
For PR instances hosted by us, please note that restoring data from backups is only possible in the context of infrastructure disaster recovery. These backups are not designed for content retrieval.
