Resolving error Parameter 'Address' cannot be empty string
Who is this article for?Users who want to learn about resolving Error: Parameter 'Address' cannot be empty string.
SYSADMIN Access is required.
This article outlines the process of resolving emails failing to send that show the error on the email status screen, Error: The parameter 'address' cannot be an empty string. Parameter name: address.
1. Workgroup Settings
- The error presents due to one of the addresses in the workgroup settings not being configured.
- There are three emails that need to be set.
| System email address | This is the from address on all system emails. By default, this is emails that are not review specific or not relating to a new user being added by a user, unless the settings have been changed as per option 3 in Common email sending questions. This would include the daily digest emails and password resets if using native Please Review authentication. |
| Support email address | If an Oops error occurs, the page prompts if the user wishes to email this error to Support. The address here is where this will be sent to. This needs to be correct to be sure the Support team know if there are errors occurring. |
| Abuse email address | This address is included, in the footer of emails to say if users did not want to be emailed, they can contact this address to advise. This is in line with Internet standards for email to prevent unwanted emails. This can be the same address as the Support one, if it is them who would deal with it. However, if you have used the Ideagen Support address for Support and you are not hosted with us, you should use an address at your location for the abuse one as we would not be responsible for who gets emailed from your system. |
- To configure the email addresses these and admin login is required that has admin access to the Root workgroup, or a SYSADMIN use.
- Navigate to the Root workgroup and configure the addresses in the table above.
- The addresses can also be configured on sub workgroups if the allow override setting is set to Y.
Note: This means that if these are added as additional settings on sub workgroups, there can be different settings, that you many also need to check. Typically these are not set on sub workgroups but they could be so it might be something to check, certainly if these errors persist.
