Who is this article for? Please Review users understanding different user types.
System Administrators can define user types.
User types makes it easier to adapt Please Review to the level of sophistication required by the user. For example, a regular reviewer would need full functionality/review options, whereas a casual user may require a simpler review experience. See Further Reading for more information on configuring users.
User Types
The System Administrator can define user types. This means they can select the functionality available to a specific user type within a review (i.e. which tools/options the user can access).
There are two default system configuration user types:
- ‘Default’ with all the options set, this will be the default user type for all new users.
- ‘Casual’ with none of the options set.
To define a new user type:
- Select the ‘Admin’ tab from the top menu.
- Then, select ‘user types’ under ‘Admin’ on the left-hand menu and the 'user types' screen will be displayed:
- Click ‘Add New’ and enter a name for the new user type.
- Click ‘Next’ and at the following screen you will be able to select which items you wish to disable:
Here are a few things to note about configuring user types:
- Selecting an item by checking the box will disable that item for the new User Type and it will not be available to users in this user type.
- A user type can only be renamed or deleted if there are no users of that type defined.
- If a ‘Help URL’ is entered, this will be used instead of the standard system help when users of that type click on the ‘Help’ button. This allows you to provide a simpler or dedicated help experience for certain types of users.
- If you wish to define which Word review interface a user is presented with (new or classic), you can do this via the settings link.
