How to Verify Review Details and Finalise Review Preparation
Who is this article for? Please Review Reviewers verifying reviews.
Review Uploading is available only to those with permissions.
The following article explains how to verify review details and create a source code review. It also shows the Please Review document preparation process, once this is confirmed, participants can begin reviewing.
Verify Review Details
The last step of review set up is to ensure the details of your review are correct:
- To edit the details, select ‘Edit’ against the appropriate area. To amend review or email options, select the ‘Review Options’ link.
- Documents can be previewed by selecting the ‘Preview’ link. This shows the document as Reviewers will see it.
- Review Owners can add comments, proposed changes and @mentions in preview mode.
- The review can now be started or placed on hold. Starting the review will send invitation emails to all participants and start the review.
- If placed on hold, the review will not start. It can be started later from the Review Control Panel.
Creating a Source Code Review
Source code files are supported by default.
The file extensions for C, C++, C#, Java, ADA, VHDL, Fortran and Xml are known to Please Review and will automatically upload documents.
Document Preparation Process
Each Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and PDF document must be prepared for display by Please Review:
- Preparation is automatic and initiated once the document has been uploaded.
- Occasionally a document will not have completed preparation when starting a review. This depends on the size of the document and the status of the preparation queue.
- If the document status is still ‘Under Preparation’, you will not be able to preview the document. You will still be able to set the review to ‘Start’ and the review will start as soon as preparation is complete.
- If preparation is not complete and you wish to preview the document, place the review ‘On Hold’ and then come back to preview the document after an appropriate interval.
By default, if a document fails preparation the review is not started. However, there is an option which allows failed document(s) to be treated as plain text. See Uploading a New Document for more information.
