This article outlines the essentials steps for preparing to install Please Review.
This article is split into the following sections:
- Review Minimum Requirements
- Obtain Please Review License File
- Confirm SMTP Connection Details
- Note System Email Addresses
- Define the Root URL
- Next Steps
1. Review Minimum Requirements
Before you begin the installation it is important to review the minimum requirements and then confirm that your server meets these requirements.
Please see Please Review Minimum Requirements for more information.
2. Obtain Please Review License File
The licence file (license.xml) is file provided by Ideagen. This includes the user count and features purchased with your Please Review system.
If you do not have the licence file then your Please Review system will not function.
3. Confirm SMTP Connection Details
Please Review will pass information to your SMTP server to distribute and so you will need the server address.
In most cases the default port 25 will be used but if you have changed the port then you will need to know the new port assigned.
If you want to use secure SMTP you will need to know whether your server uses SMTPS (implicit SSL) or STARTTLS (explicit SSL). If you want to use SMTP authentication, you need to know which authentication type is in use.
4. Note System Email Addresses
During the setup process, you will need to configure several email addresses. These are:
-
System email address: This is the address Please Review will use to send emails. This can be something like “donotreply@company.com” to discourage users from replying to such
emails, or alternatively could be the system administrator or IT helpdesk. -
Support email address: This is the email address that a support request will be sent to when a user
clicks the “support” link within Please Review. In most cases this will be the email to your local IT helpdesk. - Abuse email address: This is the email address used at the bottom of all automatically generated emails in case the user is not the anticipated recipient. This would normally be the address of your IT helpdesk or Please Review administrator.
Note: Some email systems perform sender verification (also known as sender callout verification). This attempts to reduce spam by rejecting email messages where the "from" address does not exist. If you know or suspect that emails from Please Review will be subject to such verification, you should ensure that all of these addresses point to mailboxes which do exist.
5. Define the Root URL
This is the URL that users will use to access the system. This will normally be http://<hostname>/Please Review
Note: Users may use different URLs to access the system (server name, IP address, etc) however the root URL will be used to generate working hyperlinks in system emails.
